Baccarat Tips & Strategy From Professor Eliot Jacobson

Many players keep a close eye on shoe history on paper or with a screen that shows every hand since the shoe was made. There are different ways to record this information. Companies that market shoe history displays are presented in different ways, according to the most popular way of trying to identify different styles.

Before I go any further, let me say my usual opinion about notation. I use capital letters when referring to actual rates. I use lowercase letters when referring to players. I encourage the rest of the world to follow this convention to avoid confusion.

For those of you who don’t know me, let me just say that all this effort in trying to predict the next hand is a waste of time. For all practical purposes the odds are the same for all hands and past history is irrelevant. Now, before the perfectionists here write me off, yes, I know you use a computer, a card counter can make a perfect computer decision based on the composition of the remaining cards, which rarely results in an advantage. Some bets. However, that’s not what I’m talking about. I would say that trying to find patterns in past Player and Banker wins is about as futile as predicting the next color in roulette (on a fair wheel) based on the old red and black.

Although I don’t play baccarat myself, I’ve been curious for years about some of the tables in the Shoe History Show. The Venetian staff helped me understand so I could light up the world. So, with the introduction out of the way, let’s get started. This is a picture of a typical sign seen in the Venetian. There are different elements of the show, which I will touch on individually.

Musee Baccarat Photos

The top part is called the “bead plate”. In the past, a player could purchase a tray of dice with sides designating the player, banker, and winning tie. Wins are recorded as follows:

The player starts from the top left corner and goes down. When you reach the bottom row, move one column to the right and return to the top row.

The next section in the picture above is called The Great Road. It’s mainly about keeping track of players and bankrolls. Ties and even wins are also marked with slashes and dots. More specifically, a tie is defined as the green line through the previous player or banker winner. The pair of players is marked with a blue dot in the lower right corner of the hand in which this occurs. A pair of banks with a red dot in the upper left. For simplicity, in this example only the player and the banker win.

Like Bead Plate, the player starts from the top left, and the winning player is marked in blue, and the banker wins in red. However, instead of a solid circle with Chinese characters in the middle, the main line only has blue and red circles.

Unlike Bead Plate, in Big Lane players start at the top of a new column as each player changes and the Banker wins. Note that the grid is six rows deep. If the player or banker wins seven or more in a row, the result moves to the right, creating what is called a dragon’s tail. In this example, it never happened because there were no more than four consecutive wins in a single party.

In the next table it is no longer clear and this is where I start to need help. As mentioned above, baccarat players are a very superstitious bunch. The strategies they use to find patterns can be a complicated topic, but one basic fact is that they like to predict and repeat patterns. For example, if the last 12 hands are BBBPPPPBBBPPP, I bet everyone at the table will bet on the Banker for the next hand. Pay attention to how the victory will be in three groups. The Big Eye Boy chart is useful for measuring how repeatable a shoe is. The red thing is a symbol of repetition, and the blue thing is a symbol of chaos, “polished” shoes. It should be noted that in the Big Eye Boy table, the colors blue and red are not associated with players and winners as in the previous two tables.

The first entry on the Big Eye Boy chart is the hand following the first entry on the second column of the high street, so there is enough information to determine whether or not a pattern is developing. The air starts to get thin here, so pay attention. Every item at the Big Eye Boy table, as well as the next two tables, means exclusive access to the high street. Each item in Big Eye Boy is written like this:

In the case where the big road forms the tail of the dragon, assume that the big-eyed boy and the small road and the big road are too deep for the wild boar, and ask yourself what would happen under this assumption.

Baccarat In Different Countries: How Popular Is This Game?

Note that if the big bar consists of an alternating pattern of x Player wins and x Banker wins, Big Eye Boy will be red.

To help with this, I’ll explain each element in the Big Eye Boy chart below. I pasted the results into Excel so that I could reference the exact points on the grid I was referring to.

For example, the first entry shows cell A1 in the Big Eye Boy chart. This corresponds to the hand shown in room C1 of the main street table. Since cell C1 is the beginning of a new column, we check that the previous two columns are the same length. They are, so we paint the Big Eye Boy A1 cell red.

The next chart at the bottom left of the display is “Little Street”. Little Street works like Big Eye Boy, except it skips the column to the left of the current column in Big Street. The substring must wait until after the first entry in the third column of the main string to have enough data to continue. This is how a small road should be maintained.

Baccarat / Punto Banco Gaming Table

The small street at the specified mark is too large to fit in the grid, so the first four columns are omitted. They will BBRRBR.

The next chart on the bottom right of the display is the “Cockroach Pig”. A cockroach works like a substring, except that it skips two columns to the left of the current column in the main string. In order to have enough information to continue, the cockroach pig must wait for an entry after the first entry in the fourth column of the main row. This is how the cockroach pig is saved.

Finally, yes
