Baccarat Restaurant Paris – Imagine a room with sparkling crystal chandeliers, white tablecloths, brick walls, natural lighting and large columns. The French architect Philippe Starck has transformed the old dining room of the beautiful house of architect Marie-Laure de Noailles into one of the most popular restaurants in Paris.
La Cristal Room Baccarat, located on the first floor of the Baccarat Museum in the 16th arrondissement, is also one of my favorite places to have lunch with friends. Heidi from Switzerland and Carolyn and Kathi from Boston have all succumbed to the charm of sipping wine from the iconic Harcourt 1841 stemware, the oldest in the Baccarat archives, while enjoying the food stylings of Michelin stars, food Guy Martin and Adrien Manac’ h.

Fascinated by the new autumn menu of the Cristal Room, I was delighted when Élodie agreed to take a break from her busy work at the Paris Visitors Bureau to join me for a pleasant lunch. After careful consideration and a few conversations with our charming waiter, I finally decided on the smoked eel with leek foam and a quail egg for my starter. From the moment I take my first meal, Elodie’s news about the Christmas lights on the Champs-Elysées and the ice rink on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower during the holidays was lost to a combination of sweets in my mouth.

By the time our main course arrived, Élodie and I had stopped talking about future events in Paris. “The city of light” was shown by my roast pork and cheek with mushrooms and Bak Choy and Élodie’s saddle of lamb, carrot puree with cumin, dates and lemon juice. Our desserts, pear soufflé with Williamine sorbet and Black Forest cream cake with Manjari chocolate sorbet, turned out to be equally delicious.
Insider’s tip: After lunch, be sure to visit the Baccarat Museum. The entrance fee is waived if you dine in the Cristal Room. If you, they change the language of the film shown in the first room of the museum to English. It presents the steps involved in making crystal Baccarat.

Baccarat is celebrating its 250th anniversary with the Crystal Legend, an exhibition in the Petit Palais. Masterpieces of the world’s finest crystals will be on display in the Grandes Galeries from October 15, 2014 to January 4, 2015.

Wadon Izakaya is a great place for food lovers who want to enjoy authentic Japanese food at great value for money in the heart of the 5th arrondissement of Paris. With a lunch of 16 € and a blind tasting of 35 € in the evening, it is well not to be missed. Tout est intact, comme au premier jour. This day, Guy Martin prenait en charge les cuisines. This day, Starck surprises with one of his first restaurant decorations. Ce jour où all Paris, curieux, esthètes et gourmands, accouraient pour ne pas en perdre une miette.
Nothing has changed. The entrance and its staircase are still majestic, and the room is of rare beauty with Starck’s best creative and décalé form. Tout est là et rien n’a vieilli: chaises, lustres, banquettes, tissus, vaisselle… pure merveille.
C’est après que cela se gâte. Si l’accueil est professionalnel, sans un sourcil qui bouge, le service est plutôt à coté du sujet: ferres remplis à ras bord pour le vin, pas d’annonces de plats, ni d’infos sur le vin. Là encore, si la carte est riche de vignerons connus et respectables melés à des découvertes intéressantes, le choix des vins au verre est fort restricted, deux en rouges et trois en blancs.
