Now community leaders say extra jobs in Manchester could be a long way off, they hope it will benefit the local workforce.
Bet365 is also looking to partner with the University of Manchester to tap into a larger pool of graduate talent.
Warren Hughes, the company’s head of system development in Manchester, said: “Manchester is a competitive market. It’s a place where developers often move from company to company, what I call the Northern Carousel.
“Developing our team to meet the demands of the business is key, but doing so in a sustainable way that ensures longevity is essential.

“We’ve certainly enjoyed rapid growth since arriving in Manchester two years ago, but what’s equally encouraging is our ability to retain the talent we’re recruiting.”
“We went into Manchester with the intention of starting small and strong, bringing in experienced developers who could deliver quickly,” added Hughes.
“As the department matures, we feel we are ideally placed to bring junior and graduate developers into an environment where they will have strong mentorship at an early and important stage in their careers.”
In Manchester, the company has opened up the fifth floor of its office to accommodate additional staff. The technology team there will grow from 200 to 300.

Stoke City fans back in the Potteries can also follow their progress. They hope the Coates family, which is behind the bet365 brand, will try to inject more money into the football club.
Last year the company – which moved to £30m headquarters in 2016 – saw revenue rise to £2.15bn from £1.65bn. Its operating profit also rose to £503m.
