This bourbon has an aroma of rich toasty oak with notes of chocolate and cocoa, creamy vanilla bean and hints of clove and cinnamon spice that cover a deep layer of dried fruit and citrus peel. The palate is full of malt and oak with a top layer of elegant vanilla, dark chocolate, dried fruit and creamy caramel. Mahmoud notes with a long, delicate, aromatic caramel shade of mocha. The Baccarat version is made with Woodford bourbon aged for three years in XO French oak casks and bottled in Baccarat’s exclusive crystal finish, which the distillery says takes five days to make.
“The Woodford Reserve Baccarat Edition is a celebration of history, a celebration of the connection between France and Kentucky, and a celebration of the best flavors of bourbon and cognac,” said Master Distiller Chris Morris of today’s release.
This is not the first time that Woodford has offered a rare version of Baccarat, which was released for the first time in more than a year. But the bottle was only available at Duty Free retailers and it was difficult to get a bottle without a passport (and $500 at the time).

Woodford is still playing the French links for this release. Celebrating more than 250 years, Baccarat was founded in 1764 by King Louis XV. Located in Versailles, Kentucky, Woodford has been known as the home of French royalty for generations.

Three years in ex-French cognac casks make this whiskey extremely smooth. Vanilla and cocoa shape the direction of the nose until the end, with peaches, walnuts and orange peel on the nose. The finish is sweet, soft and creamy. It really brings out another subtle caramel note that runs through the whole drama.
At $2,000, this is one of the most valuable releases of American whiskey you can get, making it the rarest release of Michter and Van Winkle bourbon on the secondary market. Well, knowing that this gorgeous bottle is only three years old from the $40 bourbon you can find in other stores today, buying this bourbon is going to be a pretty tough decision.
