2016 Ipl Virat Kohli Century – He bowled a seam and scored 100: Former India coach recalls Virat Kohli’s classic innings from IPL 2016
Former India all-rounder Sanjay Bangar recalled the magical innings from IPL 2016 against Kings XI Punjab, when Virat Kohli scored a stunning century with ticks in his arms.
2016 Ipl Virat Kohli Century
Cricket’s biggest excursion begins in a few days when the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League begins on March 31 (Friday). In this edition, all eyes will be on Royal Challegers Bangalore, who are chasing their first IPL trophy this year, and especially on their star Virat Kohli, who has not been firing on all cylinders in the previous editions of the IPL.
Virat Kohli 4 Centuries In Ipl
However, in IPL 2016, Virat Kohli had a sensational season. He scored 973 runs, the most by a batsman in a single IPL season, which also included 4 centuries. Former Indian all-rounder Sanjay Bangar recalled a magical innings from the same IPL when Kohli scored a stunning century with his arms ticking.
“I remember one match, probably against Kings XI Punjab, where he played with sticks in hand and scored 100 in 15 matches of the series. It is phenomenal,” Bangar said while talking to Star Sports on Virat Kohli’s 15 years in the IPL.
In the match against Kings XI Punjab (now known as Punjab Kings), the match was reduced to 15 overs due to rain. In the first innings, Royal Challengers Bangalore posted a huge score of 211/3. After Chris Gayle started the blitzkrieg with a 32-ball 73, Virat Kohli stole the show. He scored a mammoth 113 off 50 balls in an innings that featured 12 fours and 8 sixes.
Virat Kohli is a true legend of IPL and RCB. He has scored 6624 runs in the IPL and holds the record as the highest run scorer in the history of the tournament. After being selected by RCB in the 2008 Under-19 draft, Kohli is the only player in history to have played in the same IPL in all 15 so far.

In the memorable summer of 1984, Malcolm Marshall played with a double broken left thumb at Headingley. Seven wickets for 53 runs and a one-handed boundary in the famous blackwash where the Windies crushed the hosts 5-0.
Then, against the same West Indies, Anil Kumble came to bowl with a broken jaw in 2002. With bandages on his face, the legend bowled 14 overs and scalped the big Brian Lara. And not long ago, Alex Carey defied pain by batting with a bandaged chin against England in the World Cup.
While international cricket is full of such gutsy displays, franchise cricket has not had many such moments. Why the case is open to interpretation – one reason could be that it’s not as old as the game itself.
Virat Kohli: In Numbers
We don’t have to look far to find one bold act that left everyone in awe and the best thing about it was that there was no hype about Virat Kohli playing with the seams.
Kohli suffered a torn ligament in his left hand while playing against KKR in the IPL 2016 tournament. After the match he said, “I might need 7-8 wickets but I don’t mind 10 wickets in my hand if we win the next two They say ‘Only the greatest man rises in the face of adversity’ and the captain did just that, giving his 100% commitment.
Rain seemed to spoil the game in Bengaluru again, but after a downpour it eased off. The match was limited to 15 passes per side. Virat Kohli did the unthinkable by scoring a record fourth century in the IPL season when he was put into bat by the Punjab team. When Kohli lifted his bat after bringing up the century, he showed the seams and showed the world exactly why he is called the King.

Virat Kohli broke Chris Gayle’s incredible IPL record as he smashed his second consecutive century in the league on Sunday night.
Royal Challengers Bangalore star Virat Kohli broke his former teammate Chris Gayle’s long-standing record in the Indian Premier League by smashing his seventh century in the league on Sunday night. Kohli scored a crucial knock in RCB’s must-win game against Gujarat Titans in Bengaluru, reaching his triple figure in 60 balls; it was Kohli’s second consecutive ton of the season. The 34-year-old batsman had also scored 100 in the team’s previous match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Chris Gayle smashed his sixth and final league century in the 2018 tournament while still representing Royal Challengers. Interestingly, Kohli’s last century in the tournament before this season came in 2019 during a game against Kolkata Knight Riders; he ended the wait for a triple figure earlier this week when he guided a successful chase against Sunrisers.
