Ahead of the World Cup, major infrastructure upgrades have been undertaken at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The major renovation led by Delhi and District Cricket Association (DTCA) president Rohan Jaitley to improve the overall player and spectator experience was completed days before the match between South Africa and Sri Lanka on October 7.
India will host Afghanistan in Delhi on October 11 and the stadium will host five matches, including a crucial clash between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh on November 6.
Visitor experience includes three dimensions one, ease of entry and exit with an efficient ticketing system, two, quality of food and beverage and their availability, and three, utility.
Stadiums have installed new ticketing systems at entry points that eliminate the need for paperwork and, like most stadiums in the West, rely on barcode scanners. 52 turning points have been installed at the ground at a cost of Rs.5.5 crore.

Additional facilities for the players have been added inside the pavilion so that players can undergo a quick recovery process after the games, new pools have been installed for ice baths in the dressing rooms.
Named after India’s former captain and one of the greatest batsmen in the history of the game, the entire complex has been redesigned with the competition in mind.
A major part of the spectator experience is related to the seating arrangement. Earlier this week, during a practice match between Australia and Pakistan in Hyderabad, some journalists rushed to the dirty chairs in the stands.
In total, more than 37,000 new seats have been installed in the stadium. These chairs are a huge upgrade over what was previously used and there is no difference in terms of seat upgrades

Also, the floors in all the stands have been renovated and renovations include waterproof flooring to prevent waterlogging.
A new front lighting system has been installed inside the Arun Jaitley Stadium to illuminate the colors of the national flag. New generators, lifts and fire protection systems have also been installed within the premises
The two hill stands near the pavilion and the old club house are being renovated with many amenities on match days.
70 new toilets have been constructed around the stadium to further enhance the comfort of spectators on match days. Toilets also include sanitary pad dispensing machines and baby changing rooms

All these restrooms are newly renovated with focus on creating an inclusive environment for female visitors traveling with children
Also, free RO water for drinking has been ensured by creating 30 such water stations with 10 taps at all stands.
Officials have ensured that food and beverages are not sold at inflated prices, and water was released during the India-Australia Test match in February compared to other stadiums in India.
After the World Cup, the authorities plan to put a roof on the top floor and install solar panels to generate electricity.

The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DTCA) on Thursday named Feroz Shah Kotla as the Arun Jaitley Stadium in honor of the late politician and sports administrator.
In a spectacular event, Home Minister Amit Shah digitally inaugurated the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in the presence of the finance minister’s family.
