The Australian head coach scored 7,696 runs in 105 Tests at an average of 45.3, 23 centuries, 30 half-centuries and an impressive 250 runs. It will also feature other famous names. New Zealand’s Ross Taylor currently leads the list of highest scorers in Tests with 7379 runs. Kohli’s others include David Bone (7422 runs) and Desmond Hynes (7487 runs). Kohli also replaced Steve Smith to score 7540 runs to his name.

If the Indian captain manages to score 381 runs against England, he will overtake Rahul Dravid as the highest scorer in Test matches against India. Kohli scored 1570 runs at an average of 49.06 in 19 Tests against England. On the other hand, Dravid scored 1950 runs at an average of 60.93 in 21 Tests. India’s outgoing star Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for most runs in India-England test matches with 2535 runs. Tendulkar scored seven centuries in 32 Test matches at an average of 51.73.

Apart from Lara, the players above Kohli are Tendulkar, Kumar Sangakkara, Ricky Ponting, Mahila Jordan, Jacques Kallis and Rahul Dravid.
Kohli needs a ton to overtake Ricky Ponting among the captains of international centuries. Ponting and Kohli both have 414 international centuries, captained in 324 and 188 international matches respectively.
The Indian skipper is 14 runs short of former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd’s most runs as a captain. Kohli scored 5220 runs in 56 Tests as India’s captain. Lloyd scored 5233 runs in 74 Test matches as West Indies captain.
