Returning to his scoring ways in India’s first ODI of the 2023 season, India captain Rohit played a brilliant knock against Sri Lanka on Tuesday. Joining forces with opener Shubman Gill, veteran batsman Rohit scored a quickfire half-century and made the 1st ODI a high-scoring contest at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium.

Indian captain Rohit played a scintillating knock of 83 off 67 balls in the series match between India and Sri Lanka in Guwahati. While Rohit and Gill laid the foundation for some tough scoring, former India captain Kohli smashed his 45th ODI ton as India beat the Dasun Shanaka-led side. Kohli scored a match-winning knock of 113 off 87 balls as India defeated Sri Lanka by 67 runs in the first ODI in Guwahati.

After leading India to a memorable victory over Sri Lanka, Kohli and Rohit have emerged as the two big risers in the ODI batting rankings. Former India captain Kohli has moved up two places to the sixth position, while India captain Rohit has climbed to the eighth position in the ODI rankings. Sri Lanka captain Shanaka, who squandered his glorious century, has moved up 20 places to 61st in the batsmen’s rankings.

Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has been the highest riser in the bowling charts. The Indian pacer moved to 18th after picking up two wickets against Sri Lanka in the first ODI. Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav, who warmed the bench in the series opener, maintained his position at the top of the T20I batsman rankings. Suryakumar hit the winning century in the third and final T20I of the bilateral series against Sri Lanka.

The Indian middle-order batsman popularly known as SKY is looking to break the all-time record in the T20I rankings. Suryakumar is just seven points behind England star Dawid Malan (915) in the T20I batsmen’s rankings. The in-form batsman holds the all-time record ahead of Babar Azam (896 runs), Virat Kohli (897 runs) and Aaron Finch (900 runs). In the recently released ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings, the star batsmen have increased their points at the top of the rankings from 883 points to 908 points.
