SINGAPORE, May 21 – Fans will be able to attend AIA Singapore Premier League (SPL) matches from this week without the need for any form of COVID-19 test.

A maximum of 250 fans can enter stadiums, as per guidelines announced by the COVID-19 Multi-Ministry Taskforce on March 24, starting with Gameweek 8 of the SPL, when Hougang United FC plays Lion City Sailors FC and Tanjong Pagar United FC hosts Tampines. Rovers FC on Saturday, April 24), while Balestier Khalsa FC will entertain Albirex Niigata FC (S) and Young Lions will face Geylang International FC on Sunday, April 25.

To enter, supporters must purchase a physical ticket at a dedicated sports center in each area, which starts play two hours before the match starts. Tickets cost S$8.00 for adults and S$5.00 for concessions. All ticket sales are handled by teams. A wristband will be issued to each ticket holder at the entrance of the game. Supporters are allowed to enter the stadium 60 minutes before the start of the match.
Lion City Sailors player Shahdan Sulaiman welcomed the prospect of having fans, saying: “I am waiting for the crowds to come back as it has been more than a year since fans were allowed to be in the stadiums. Although the numbers are limited at the moment, I I’m sure all players would like support!”
When supporters enter, safety regulations and standard security protocols at the matches apply, including bag checks. Therefore, fans are advised not to bring bags and prohibited items with them when attending matches. Customers are encouraged to arrive early to avoid crowds. In addition, they will also adhere to the guidelines set out in Sport Singapore’s advisory on the safe resumption of sport and exercise for phase three.
This follows conditional access for fans starting on April 10, which marked the first time fans could watch football matches from the final day of the 2020 season in December.

SPL fans can still watch every match LIVE on Singtel TV, StarHub TV and stream online via the SPL Facebook page and YouTube channel, as well as the 1 Play Sports Facebook page. Considering the current situation regarding the Asian Football Federation competition, changes in the schedule of SPL matches can be expected.
