Under 19 World Cup Cricket 2023 – Namibia won the African qualifiers and have already booked their place for the ICC Men’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka next year.
Namibia became the third team to receive their tickets for the 2024 U-19 World Cup through the qualifying route. Last month, New Zealand completed the East Asia-Pacific qualifiers while Nepal advanced from Asia in February 2023.

The three teams join 11 other teams – Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Zimbabwe – who will automatically qualify as the best full member nations from the previous cycle in 2022.

The Eagles are unbeaten during their run in the African qualifiers and have won all of their matches after their first game against Uganda was abandoned due to rain. The bowlers were at the top of their game as they managed to defend a low total and Namibia’s highest score was just 170 during the tournament.
After the match, Namibia faced Tanzania on 24 July. Captain Alexander Bosing-Wolshenk led Namibia with 39 to take Namibia to a total of 139 points. The bowlers all chipped in with wickets to reduce Tanzania to just 33, a record in a massive 106-run victory.
Kenya suffered a similar fate in the next match as they lost to Namibia just 64 hours after the first strike. Eagles used the chase well and won by 7 wickets in 17 overs.
They bowled out Sierra Leone by 83 runs, with left-arm spinner Maurice Gerhard Cariata leading the way with a four-wicket haul.
World Cup Cricket 2023 Under 19
Defending a target of 149 against Nigeria, Namibia ended the tournament on a high with Peter Daniel Blignat recording a five-wicket win in his 53-run victory.
Two more spots are up for grabs for the upcoming U19 Men’s marquee event, which will be determined through the European Regional Qualifiers and the American Regional Qualifiers.
The European qualifiers will be held between August 6 and 12 in the Netherlands, where the hosts will face Guernsey, Italy, Jersey, Norway and Scotland for a quota. America’s qualifiers will begin on August 11 with Argentina, Bermuda, hosts Canada, Suriname and the United States in the event.

India won the ICC Under-19 T20 World Cup, defeating England by seven wickets in the final in Potchefstroom, South Africa on Sunday.
Chasing a paltry 69 for victory, the Shefali Vera-led team lost just three wickets.
