Number of fielders who have taken four catches in a single IPL match. Chennai Super Kings’ Ravindra Jadeja became the latest to do so against Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 19. Interestingly, it has happened three times in the first four editions of the tournament, while there have been four in the last three seasons (including three in 2019), and no outfielder managed to achieve the feat in the seven years between 2012 and 2018 . Jadeja also became the third Indian to take four catches in an IPL match after Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Twatia.

Two of the biggest names in Indian cricket, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, are set to clash in the opening match of IPL 2021. How do they stack up against each other in terms of IPL batting and captaincy? Here’s the lowdown.
Captain Sharma’s log was part of a record six winning campaigns (with Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians), including five as captain of Mumbai Indians. Under Sharma, Mumbai Indians were the most successful franchise in the league, winning 68 out of 116 matches. However, Sharma’s performance with the bat as captain has not been exceptional. His average is 30.25 as captain compared to 32.91 without the captain’s badge. Kohli is one of only four IPL captains to have played more than 100 matches – he is the only one on that list who has not won the title.
Virat Kohli Ipl Season Wise Runs
Kohli’s overall win-loss record as an IPL captain isn’t great either. The Royal Challengers won just 55 out of 125 matches under his leadership. However, as a batsman, there are not many who can match Kohli for consistency and impact. He is the leading run-getter in the competition and also holds the record for most runs as a captain. Kohli’s captaincy average of 43.88 is second only to David Warner (49.01) among those who have scored more than 1,000 runs as captain, and is well ahead of his IPL average before he led the Royal Challengers (26, 96).
Impact on the team with the bat. Mumbai Indians are far less reliant on Sharma’s batsman than the Royals are on Kohli’s. While Sharma has moved up the batting order, Kohli is a top-class specialist. He finished outside the top three for the Royals just four times, scoring 22.93% of the team’s total runs. On the other hand, more than 40% of Sharma’s career as a captain has been spent outside the top three. He’s been a starter the last two seasons, but hasn’t achieved a high level of consistency or run volume. However, if he scores big, the odds of Mumbai Indians winning are higher:
